What I find fascinating is mind body connection an

What I find fascinating is mind body connection and how our emotions and our physicality are intertwined.

Not only has yoga made me stronger and more flexible physically, it has also helped me to release trapped emotions from the body- letting go of old trauma and feeling a sense of freedom and joy that was also buried alongside the pain.

Deepening my connection to my intuition has led me to investigate other healing modalities, and I am called to explore sound. I’ve been studying sound healing and this picture is me practising my techniques with crystal singing bowls.

Next month my training will culminate in a practical immersive course where I’ll achieve my level 3 certification. I’m so looking forward to connecting with fellow learners IRL and conducting in person soundscapes.

Yoga is one way you can raise your vibration, shift old energy and create your joy. Sound is another. It’s exciting to blend both and share it with others who are on this journey.

Happy blossom season! 🌸

This is a reminder for my Sunday yoga ladies…

We’re doing a flow to Crow this week! Crow pose (Bakasana) is an advanced yoga posture and one that not only strengthens the arms and shoulders but also helps you increase your self trust. (Pic 2)

Alongside this we will also get into a tripod stand, a headstand, and this posture was requested last weekend by one of the group. (Pic 3)

I asked the ladies for any special requests/ favourite asanas and will weave these in during April’s classes so if you made a request, we WILL hit it! If you haven’t made a request yet then DM me and you’ll get your favourite in there too!

I’m so proud of this beautiful group of ladies. Some of them have been coming to my classes for over a year, some joined me in January as beginners and now the whole team is at a level where we can progress to more advanced postures as they have the basics down. It’s been a privilege to see them each week, becoming stronger, more confident and also getting to know them and having a laugh when we chat before class.

If you watched last weekend’s Ant & Dec Saturday Night Takeaway and saw Craig David instructing Dec in yoga poses including a “Humping Hippo” this might give a clue as to one of our cues last week which I couldn’t resist throwing in but we quickly reverted to Downward Dog! 🤣

Can’t wait to see you ladies and I know you’ll be amazing crows. If you want to bring a cushion as your reassuring safety net please feel free although you might surprise yourself 🧘🏼‍♂️✨✨✨✨✨❤️

This morning I was covering 3 classes at the gym then this afternoon was spent at my desk. It was a balanced day!

Low tech morning. High tech afternoon. Chilled out evening 👌

It was so nice to attend the Yorkshire Businesswoman’s event today in #Leeds @yorkshire_businesswoman.
I met some lovely ladies including @fredashafi_spiceitup (pictured left) and some women in hospitality. I’ve already booked on next month’s event!

I’m having a ‘90’s revival (my student days)

I’m having a ‘90’s revival (my student days) but with better hair and less depression. Scratch that…. Zero depression!

I’ve basically thrown out all the ‘rules’ that I’ve ever previously lived by about what I ‘should’ be, do or want and am embracing what I actually want.

Having two breakfasts instead of breakfast and lunch? Yes please 🤣 I’ve always preferred breakfast food.

Deciding to read more for pleasure? Sure! I dusted off my library card and found a new release that was actually in my Amazon basket recently (I save things I want in my basket but don’t check out so that next time I do need something with urgency, I already have other stuff I want too to reach the free delivery threshold). Note to self: I’ll use the library much much more. We all pay for it in our council tax. May as well benefit from it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Booking not one but two cookery workshops? Yes! In June I’m learning ‘Greek favourites’ and in August I’m learning plant based recipes. Looking forward to the classes and to eating the amazing food!!!

Oh yes, and I’ve been doing a distance learning course on Sound Therapy and in May I have a 3 day intensive course led by an international sound engineer and holistic trainer to deepen my practical skills.

In a few weeks I’m doing a yoga workshop on the foundation of backbends so I can get assistance and some good exercises to do helping me to deepen my spine flexion and extension. I’m building up to wheel pose!

I’m posting less on social media as I’m enjoying being in the moment but I’ll definitely share my upcoming courses and all that delicious food. Not sure if I’ll share my backbends though! 🤩

Every Wednesday I record a one hour yoga class whi

Every Wednesday I record a one hour yoga class which goes out to my digital subscribers by email. This morning I was in my studio in the UK, a couple of weeks ago this view was my studio!

I’ve finally got the format right when recording on location. All the lessons have been learned and the repeated practice of recording weekly has made the process second nature.

Previous location recording attempts span back 18 months:

Lake District in front of a beautiful lake: Class recorded with no sound- microphone was off (I was still getting used to the mic settings!)

Family holiday to Corfu: Class recorded but I didn’t feel as confident in my delivery as I was recording in a location to capture the sunrise but this meant my only option was on a stone jetty by the sea. The ground surface was uneven so my yoga mat dipped in places and I didn’t feel secure, plus the pool maintenance staff of the hotel were doing their early cleaning and kept looking over. I had to push through and be bold, keep talking to the camera as if no one was there but I didn’t feel like it was my best presentation, so I didn’t release the video.

Dubai: Great location, great presentation but the bedroom phone rang during the filming. I handled the interruption well but I learned the lesson to unplug the phone as well as putting out the ‘do not disturb’ sign!

Over the time I’ve been recording weekly yoga classes for my digital subscribers I’ve now had most distractions thrown at me and learned how to keep calm and carry on with the class so that the end user is unaware that there was any distraction at my end. As far as they know, it ran smoothly.

Some of the occurrences in my awareness but not the viewers’ have been:
Parcel delivery at the door
Loud talking by pedestrians outside the studio walls
Cat jumping off the wall outside my studio and directly in eyeline whilst I’m trying to focus on maintaining balance
Sudden urge to break wind whilst in downward dog! This one is risky… any movement and it could slip out before I’m able to dissolve it!! Sometimes this can’t be helped- some of the yoga poses stimulate the gut area, it happens to us all!

So grateful I turned my yoga hobby into my career.
So grateful that I have a body that doesn’t ache anymore.
So grateful to feel strong in my body and mind and that I can do anything.
So grateful to be able to spread that energy to others through my classes.
Just so, so grateful.

Spring equinox is the balance between winter and summer- day and night equal. It’s a great time to reflect on balance: where in our lives we have balance and where we don’t. What needs to be shed as you move forward into the new season?

Postcards from Dubai!

The skyscraper pic was taken in front of the area where a fountain display goes off every night- just in front of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. But as we visited during Ramadan, this display was scheduled to start at 7:30pm after sunset, so we didn’t see it as we were leaving when it was still light! Looks like we’ll have to go back! 🤣
